EXTENDED TOUR DESCRIPTION
Day tours from Sorrento to Capri
There is no question that Capri is one of the most impressive spots in Italy. Surrounded by crystal clear waters, shimmering grottos and dramatic cliff-faces, it’s what dreams are made of. You could take the hydrofoil to Capri, but if you’d like to travel with a little more luxury and seclusion, this laid back transfer is the perfect option.
Your day starts in central Sorrento where you’ll meet your driver. Relax for the drive to the port, taking in views over olive & lemon groves, the Gulf of Sorrento and Villa Lauro in the distance. At the port he’ll hand you over to your English-speaking boat’s skipper, who will direct you to a more modern version of Sorrento’s famous gozzo boats (with the added benefit of shaded cabin and toilet onboard). Then it’s off to sea!
With a limit of just 12 people per boat, your journey will be as relaxed as it is beautiful.
It’s all about the journey
Rather than skipping straight to Capri, as many day tours from Sorrento do, your boat will first take a turn along the gulf, to showcase its beauty. Admire the beautiful town of Marciano and the cliffs of Massa Lubrense before stopping at picturesque stops along the way for swimming and snorkeling.
Back onboard, your skipper will prepare you for your visit to Capri, teaching you about local traditions, stories and superstitions as your boat cruises the perimeter of the beautiful island. Don’t forget your camera!
One of the most famous features of Capri is its grottos; sea level caves that sparkle in the reflected water. As part of your day trip from Sorrento you’ll visit the White Grotto, the Green Grotto and the Sailor Grotto. Visiting the Blue Grotto is possible but costs extra and can be negotiated with the skipper.
Four hours of free time in Capri & Anacapri
Your boat docks at Capri port where your skipper will give you suggestions on a variety of activities and answer any questions you have but what you do next is up to you. In four hours free time you can take a walk or the cable car up to explore the picturesque streets and squares of Capri; visit the beautiful Augustus gardens; or catch a bus to explore the wilder side of the island in Anacapri. Make sure to ask your skipper for your home made Caprese sandwich snack (made by Mama with love!) and a drink of your choice to take with you before getting off!
After your time in Capri there’s one more highlight on your Capri boat tour – a stop at the famous faraglioni, the three big lighthouses of Capri. Steal a kiss under the so-called Arch of Love and relax with a beer or soft drink as you cruise back to Sorrento. Before disembarking and taking your transfer back to Sorrento town, you’ll end with a limoncello toast to a beautiful and relaxing day at sea.
