EXTENDED TOUR DESCRIPTION

EARLY ENTRY VATICAN MUSEUM & SISTINE CHAPEL TICKETS – ENTER BEFORE THE PUBLIC!

Enter the Vatican Museums a full 30 minutes before the general public to see the Sistine Chapel before the crowds.

After meeting at the entrance to the Vatican Museums, your guide will escort you (and your small group of max 15 people) through the long galleries of the Vatican Museums and direct to the Sistine Chapel.

Along they way they'll give you some insight on what to look out for inside the Chapel. Using visual aids they'll explain how Michelangelo created such tension in 'The Creation of Man' on the roof of the Sistine Chapel. They'll give you tips on which characters to look out for in the 'Last Judgement' behind the altar, and add depth to your visit by providing background (and gossip) on the incredible project that was the painting of the Sistine Chapel.

SKIP THE LINE ACCESS TO ST. PETER’S BASILICA

After 30 minutes inside the Sistine Chapel you’ll have the option to stay inside, traveling back through the Vatican Museums afterwards on your own; or you can follow your tour guide for Skip the Line entry to St. Peter’s Basilica. We highly suggest that you take advantage of this opportunity to get past general access lines to St. Peter's Basilica (which can stretch for hours during busy periods).

With our special access your guide will lead you directly from the Sistine Chapel (via a special door) into the Basilica where they'll give you a full tour of the most important church in Christendom. You'll see Michelangelo's 'Pietà' and Bernini's incredible altar, and learn the histories of some of the popes laid to rest here.

Visiting the two most important sights of the Vatican (the Sistine Chapel & St. Peter's Basilica) in just two hours, this express tour is an affordable, fun and educational way to explore - without having to wait in line!

We loved the tour and our guide. Highly recommended!
Sev was very knowledgable and made the tour engaging and entertaining.
Sev was fantastic! He moved quickly which we loved bc it was an expedited tour and we have 3 young kids. However, he still managed to give so much insight into all parts of the Sistine Chapel and St. Peter’s Basilica. It was a great experience!

Important information

Before you travel, please read our important notes about possible disruptions & site entrance requirements

Please note that the Vatican Museums have strict rules on what can and cannot be brought inside. Oversized and forbidden items must be checked at the entrance to the Museums and it will be the responsibility of the guest to retrieve them from the same spot after the tour. Forbidden items can be viewed here.

Entrance to the Vatican Museums will be denied to any guest (male or female) that does not cover both their shoulders and knees. Walks of Italy cannot be held responsible for denied entry due to improper dress.

On rare occasions, when St. Peter's Basilica is being prepared for high masses or a special private event, including the Easter ceremonies, the tour group exit and/or the basilica itself can be closed without prior notification. Your guide will still give you an introduction to the church should you wish to visit this on your own at a later occasion. We are unable to provide refunds or discounts.

While the Vatican Museums are equipped with elevators for wheelchair access, they are not conveniently located on the group tour route and only give access to specific sections of the Museums. Please contact us at info@walksofitaly.com if you have walking disabilities or if you are in a wheelchair. We can then work out a suitable alternative.

I think our guide’s name was Fiona (dark hair, fedora hat, colorful shawl). She was very humorous, informative, and helpful. The information was good. We learned a few things we didn’t know! It would probably be helpful to direct customers to where the souvenir shop is after the tour. Thanks for the tour.

It was a great tour and Martini was delightful.
Such a great tour - thank you Julietta! We appreciate that you were friendly and accommodating to our 4.5 year old son Charlie. We are so glad we did the tour. Thanks again!
The early tour of the Sistine Chapel with Franciso was amazing. We had the opportunity to see it without the crowds and a great narration of the area. We are glad we stayed with Francisco into the St Peters Basilica as there was an option to tour the museum before and separate from him if we desired. We weren't sorry to have his knowledge of the Basilica.
Have already recommended walks of Italy to my friends. Our tour was worth every penny. We also took the early entry Duomo tour in Florence with you. It was fabulous also. Thanks guys!

Our tour guide, Juliette (I believe that was her name) was absolutely fantastic!!!
Maristella was incredibly knowledgeable about the museum and church. Most importantly she had a WONDERFUL personality- she was happy, cheerful, bubbly, and comical. We enjoyed spending the morning with her. My one constructive criticism for the tour is that she provided a lot of important/interesting information about the site while we were walking from the meeting point, up the street, past the massive crowds lining up, past the huge tour buses and taxis, etc. and it was personally very difficult for me to hear and attend to what she was saying with so much noise and hustle and bustle around us. I would’ve preferred she wait until we were in line to start the information. However I understand that she probably started talking amidst the busy streets as a way to save time. Otherwise she was great.
A very enjoyable tour with plenty of information with a very knowledgeable guide.
Guide and drivers very good
Best Guide ever! We had an issue with our reservation and the staff resolved it in a mater of minutes. Thank you!

Julietta was the finest guide we experienced in all the tours we took in Italy. Not only was she extremely knowledgeable due to her fine arts background, but she had a wonderful sense of humour. We thoroughly enjoyed her half day.

We enjoyed our tour tremendously. Our guide was knowledgeable, as well as warm and entertaining. I will recommend Walks of Italy to friends or family planning a trip overseas.
The express tour was exactly what we were hoping for. It allowed us to see the highlights without being stuck on a tour for hours. The guide was very knowledgeable and shared interesting facts that we may not have learned elsewhere. It was also wonderful to have skip the line access to other features after the tour.

What an incredible experience. The early entry Vatican tour was such an enjoyable and unique tour. Our guide was so energetic and passionate about art history - she really created a memorable tour. My husband and I agreed that the Walk of Italy tour was one of the best decisions we made during our honeymoon trip to Italy. Fast, easy, informative and awe-inspiring. Thank you!
The guide was fantastic!! Very friendly, informative and entertaining, so much so that even our teenage daughter became interested and got her away from her phone for a while! :) I wouldn't hesitate to do another tour with this company.
My friend and I thought Ettore was terrific. He was knowledgeable, upbeat, interesting, funny, and very engaging. He masterfully whisked us in , out, and around the huge crowds. He explained various other areas of the vatican museum that we could explore when the tour ended. We highly recommend him as a guide and wish we could take other tours with him. .
Matina was wonderful!
NOT due to Walks of Italy, a function was occurring in St. Peter's and we were not able to walk to front. Guide made up for this issue with in depth conversation.
Great your awesome guide!!
We enjoyed the small group size and
Audio system had weak volume. There was lots of static and broke up quite frequently so we were unable to hear our guide.
Ezra (sorry had with names) was excellent. It was also extremely well organised, easy to find the meeting point, off on time and went like clockwork. My family really wanted to see the Sistine Chapel and St Peters but didn't want hours in the Vatican Museum so this was exactly the right length. Recommend highly
Mr T. was fantastic. We thoroughly enjoyed the small group. We would highly recommend this tour to others.
The guide made all the difference. Luigi was excellent. He was very knowledgeable, took time to explain and answer our questions. Can't say enough good things about him. Totally enjoyable.
Sylvia was an excellent guide, friendly & had great knowledge & history of Vatican

Simply an outstanding tour.. Informative and educational. Sylvia did an excellent job explaining all the important aspects of the Vatican, Sistine Chapel and the Basilica. 5 stars all around. Would strongly recommend Walks of Italy for any and all tours of Italy....
A most excellent guide. Very informative. The only thing that was a little bit of an issue was the wait to get in, which is none of your fault. I would recommend your company to other people that wish to do a tour of the Vatican.
Vanessa was the most marvelous guide, so knowledgable, sincere and passionate about her heritage. She made the whole visit worthwhile and interesting for both me and my husband. It would have been lovely to have had her with us for our four days in Rome. We hope to return one day and will definitely use 'Walks'. Thank you for a lovely experience.
