Enter the Vatican Museums a full 30 minutes before the general public on this express tour which including early-entry Sistine Chapel tickets.

After meeting at the entrance to the Vatican Museums, your guide will escort you (and your small group of max 15 people) through the long galleries of the Vatican Museums directly to the Sistine Chapel.

Along the way, they'll use visual aids to tell you the story of how the Chapel was painted and what to look out for once you're inside. Moving one step ahead most of the crowds, you'll reach the entrance to the Chapel just before it starts to fill up so you can take advantage of the relative peace and quiet.

After 30 minutes inside the Sistine Chapel you’ll have the option to see the parts of the Vatican Museums that you missed on your own, or you can follow your tour guide for Skip the Line St. Peter’s Basilica tour. We highly suggest that you take advantage of this opportunity to get past general access lines to St. Peter's Basilica (which can stretch for hours during busy periods).

You'll see Michelangelo's 'Pietà' and Bernini's incredible altar canopy, as you learn the history of the church and importance to Christianity.

Visiting the two most important sights of the Vatican (the Sistine Chapel & St. Peter's Basilica) in just two hours, this express tour is an affordable, fun and educational way to explore - without having to wait in line!

Important information

Before you travel, please read our important notes about possible disruptions & site entrance requirements

Please note that the Vatican Museums have strict rules on what can and cannot be brought inside. Oversized and forbidden items must be checked at the entrance to the Museums and it will be the responsibility of the guest to retrieve them from the same spot after the tour. Forbidden items can be viewed here.

Entrance to the Vatican Museums will be denied to any guest (male or female) that does not cover both their shoulders and knees. Walks of Italy cannot be held responsible for denied entry due to improper dress.

On rare occasions, when St. Peter's Basilica is being prepared for high masses or a special private event, including the Easter ceremonies, the tour group exit and/or the basilica itself can be closed without prior notification. Your guide will still give you an introduction to the church should you wish to visit this on your own at a later occasion. We are unable to provide refunds or discounts.

While the Vatican Museums are equipped with elevators for wheelchair access, they are not conveniently located on the group tour route and only give access to specific sections of the Museums. Please contact us at info@walksofitaly.com if you have walking disabilities or if you are in a wheelchair. We can then work out a suitable alternative.

We were very happy with our tour. Michaela was a very knowledgeable and professional guide and very friendly too.
Wonderful tour with a wonderful guide! It was specially the right amount of time for my kids as they would not be able to handle much more. Would recommend it definitely.
We booked multiple tours during our 2 weeks in Europe - this one at the Vatican, one at the Colosseum, several through tours through the cruise we took (Pompeii / Mt Vesuvius, Nice / Monaco, Palma de Mallorca), and several through the hotel in Barcelona (Sagrada Familia, Montserrat) but this was one of the best. Doriana was an amazing guide and was very knowledgeable - we came out understanding more about the Michelangelo, the Sistine Chapel, and St Peter's Basilica than we expected. Thanks for an amazing tour and experience!

Paula was fabulous! She was enthusiastic and thoroughly knowledgeable about the Vatican. My daughter Grace and I felt the tour was extremely helpful in increasing our understanding of the Sistine Chapel and St. Peter's Basilica. We had visited the Sistine Chapel a few days earlier, during the night opening, on our own without a guide. Having Paula there to bring out many of the details and history of the work made all the difference. We also took the Welcome and Gelato tasting tour on 7/26 with Michaela. Michaela was also a wonderful guide, so knowledgeable about every aspect of the city and its history. Too bad we didn't have her to guide us to Piazza Navona.... we think we went about 3 miles out of our way getting there (my phone wasn't working, and either our maps didn't have street names, or the streets didn't have signs...but all's well that ends well ...oh wait, that's France, not Italy...) Grazie mille! Jennifer and Grace
Paola was an excellent guide, she was very knowledgable and engaging, and we got the impression that she had so much more knowledge to share if she’d had more time.
Enzo was fantastic
great tour guide! very informative.

Wow! I loved my early entry tour with Camila of the Sistine Chapel and St. Peter’s Basilica. It was the perfect amount of time to see both sites without feeling rushed. Camila was an excellent tour guide. Very pleasant, kind, genuine, and knowledgeable of the sites. At times, I was overwhelmed with the amount of information given, but that is probably due to the fact that she had so much to share in such a short amount of time. Regardless, I thoroughly enjoyed my tour and look forward to another Walks of Italy tour. :)
He was very knowledgeable and great fun!

Agnese was brilliant and the tour was exactly what we wanted. Very informative and organised. The small group made it very personable. A future visit to Rome will include another tour with Walks of Italy.
great tour with a great guide, provided enough information to make this trip very enjoyable
Sev was great! Very knowledgeable. Great detail. Perfect tour!
Guide was very knowledgeable, patient and pleasant. You could hear and understand his presentation well. The whole experience including early entry without lines was well worth the cost.

I’d like to thank our guide today for the wonderful and very informative tour. She presented it clearly and breathed life to the ancient art and buildings. It was obvious that the investment to the tour and early access was worth the investment.
We still had a long line to stand in.
Francesco was a fabulous guide. He was very knowledgeable and personable. He made the waiting interesting and the time went by quickly.

Our guide was fantastic. We had a group with five kids, one that asked a lot of questions and Hilary answered each of them with a smile. We learned quite a bit!

Great tour! we went on one of the busiest days of the year and our guide talked us through everything very clearly about what to expect. i can't say enough good things about our guide, think his name may have been luigi-very knowledgeable and calm, his voice also had a very pleasing tone.I learn't so much. i went on another tour later in the week in another city and it was not nearly as good as this one. thank you!
Wonderful guide!
It was such a busy day in Vatican City but I think our tour guide really made the most of our time. I wish the lines wouldn't have been so long but that is no ones fault! Thanks for a wonderful experience!
Francesca was an amazing guide. Animated and friendly and knowledgeable to answer questions. I loved that she had printouts of the Sistine Chapel for us to look at while in line to enter so that we could learn a lot during the wait and then fully identify and appreciate the paintings once we were inside.
Tour guide made most of difficult situation- in regards to time in security Lin and close of basillica
Well organized, and tour guide was great. We appreciate the interaction throughout. It would be nice to have at least one stop in the hallways where the tapestries and maps were to explain them. The biggest problem we had was that the tour needs to leave on time and NOT wait for anyone. We left 20min late. Honestly the tour should leave even earlier to help with the wait time. We would recommend Walks to any of our friends.
Guilia was excellent. Bravo! She was great for me and my husband as adults, and kept my sons aged 10 and 13 engaged.
Guido was fantastic - he managed to combine his incredible wealth of knowledge & cheeky sense of humour to make the whole experience more than just a history lesson. And two hours is a good time frame. No negative issues really - a bit of disorganisation at the meeting point but certainly no problem. I would not hesitate to recommend Walks of Italy for this tour.
We were satisfied with the tour structure and delighted with the tour guide. Her pronunciation, attitude and knowledge was superb.
Our guide, a lovely Polish woman who’s name escapes me at the moment was wonderful - knowledgeable and friendly. The communication a set up was well organized. We definitely would do another walksofitaly tour
The early morning Vatican tour was what we expected. There are still long lines even so early but the tour was precisely managed. Maria Grazie was informative and had a lovely cadence with our group.

Our express tour with Cecilia was top notch. We were surprised to see the throngs of folks lined up a bit before 8am when we arrived w/ her at the vatican, but she was amazingly calm, peaceful, knowledgeable, charming as we got through the security line and inside for the breathtaking views. We loved her. And we loved the view of the vatican we got. Once the tour was over, with Cecilia's guidance we quickly did a few other experiences (duomo, crypt), followed by lunch at a great restaurant she recommended within walking distance. Could not have been any better! We did three tours with Walks while in Rome and they were absolutely the highlight of the trip. My husband is an avid historian and was impressed by their education and 'bedside manner'. We are already talking about you guys being a 'must do' with our friends and for future trips to Florence and Milan. Keep up the awesome work!
The guide was great, pleasant and knowledgeable.
Tour guide was very knowledgeable and interesting!
We enjoyed the tour immensely. Gracie Mille.
Our tour and guide were fantastic!
I guess we were not expecting such a long wait in line outside the Sistine Chapel. However the guide was excellent
