See the Mona Lisa at her stunning best
The Mona Lisa is one of the must-see sights of Paris. The only problem is, just about everyone who visits Paris thinks so too. Da Vinci’s masterpiece is regularly mobbed by people on Louvre tours for most of the day, every day of the week. This is not the best way to see one of the world’s greatest paintings, but we’ve figured out a hack that lets you avoid the hoards; spending the most peaceful time of the day with the famous lady.
Visiting when we do, you’ll be able to get closer to the Mona Lisa than on other tours. A good thing too, since she’s so much smaller than you would expect, protected by glass and a barrier.
Not Your Average Louvre Tour
After testing and perfecting our timing through countless research trips, we’ve created an itinerary that gives you one hour of exploration more than most Louvre museum tours. That means a full 2.5 hours of art viewing with your expert art-historian guide and a small group of just 15 fellow visitors. Then a gloriously peaceful view of the Mona Lisa just before the museum closes.
During the tour, you’ll enjoy seeing the most treasured works in the museum, including the historic foundations of the Medieval moat; Greek and Roman sculptures like the ‘Venus de Milo’, ‘Cupid & Psyche’, and Michelangelo’s ‘Slaves’; and many of the greatest works ever created by French artists such as ‘Liberty Leading the People’ by Delacroix and ‘The Raft of Medusa’ by Géricault.
You’ll also see France’s old crown jewels, the world famous ‘Winged Victory’ monument, and works from Italian painters like Caravaggio, Raphael, and of course, Leonardo da Vinci.
DON’T JUST ‘DO’ THE LOUVRE, DO IT RIGHT!
The Louvre is the largest art museum in the world and there are countless Louvre tours offering every imaginable itinerary. However, this is the only Louvre museum tour that saves the Mona Lisa for last, ensuring that you enjoy the most tranquil time possible.
Along the way your guide will take care of all the timing and logistics so all you have to do is relax and enjoy the art. You’ll have skip the line access to get you past long lines and straight inside. Your guide will also provide each guest with a headset, so you can have a little space to get up close to the art while still hearing them (even on the busiest/loudest days at the museum).
Traveling with an expert art historian guide means you won’t just see the art, you’ll learn the stories behind it too: Like how the harrowing ‘Raft of Medusa’ was based on a story from newspapers of the time; or why the ‘Venus di Milo’ and ‘Winged Victory of Samothrace’ are such treasured pieces in a museum of masterpieces.
The Louvre is an incredible space that deserves careful planning and your full attention. Give it the time it deserves (at the best time of day) on our complete tour.
