EXTENDED TOUR DESCRIPTION

Venice boat tour with an expert guide

EXPLORE VENICE IN COMFORT FROM THE WATER, WITH AN EXPERT GUIDE.

One of Venice’s grandest traditions is boating down the Grand Canal. The city's main waterway serves as a passage for ambulances, cargo vessels and gondolas, while its shores are lined with the most beautiful palaces and bridges. You'll see them all and soak up the atmosphere of the Grand Canal on our luxury Venice Boat Tour. As you pass each one your guide will tell you the stories and anecdotes that make them so incredible, from the Cà d’Oro and Cà Pesaro palaces; to the Rialto Bridge; Rialto Fish Market; and the Accademia Gallery.

From the water, you’ll see the Doge’s Palace and the St. Mark's Basilica like never before. You’ll explore the city’s prettiest inner canals, Venice’s equivalent to “back streets,” taking in the city’s beautiful palaces and getting a sense of how Venetians really live.

The view from San Maggiore Tower

ADMIRE THE BEST VIEW IN VENICE FROM THE BELL TOWER OF SAN GIORGIO MAGGIORE.

At this stage you’ll have seen the most famous sights of Venice so we’ll continue our off-the-beaten-path tour for something quite special. Few visitors take the time to visit the Island of San Giorgio Maggiore. That’s their loss and you’re about to find out why.

We’ll stop just across the water from St. Mark’s Square. Ever seen a postcard of the Doge’s Palace and Venice from across the water? This is where that shot was taken! Your guide will lead you inside the stunning basilica for a tour of its art and architecture, then you’ll have a choice to climb the bell tower (admission is included in the price of your tour and there is an elevator). We strongly advise that you do.

Stepping outside you’ll be hit full force by an incredible view over all of Venice. Trace the route of the Grand Canal, admire the dome of St. Mark’s Basilica and marvel at this incredible – and incredibly unique – city. With your guide on hand to point out what’s what, you’ll get to grips with the city beneath your feet.

The canals of Venice on our Venice boat tour

SMALL GROUPS, LUXURY BOAT AND AN EXPERT GUIDE, FOR A TRULY VIP EXPERIENCE.

It’s the little details that really make this tour. While riding a gondola is a fantastic experience, the Grand Canal is too busy, its current too strong, to make any real progress. We’ve opted instead for a luxury speedboat so you can choose to sit inside and listen to your guide’s commentary or stand outside, snapping the best photos. With audio headsets for every guest, you won’t have a problem hearing your guide whether you’re standing outside or relaxed inside. And with small groups of only 9 people or fewer – the smallest of our Venice experiences – you’ll be able to ask all the questions you can think of.

Our Venice Boat Tour takes you away from the crowds to experience the best that the city has to offer – from the Rialto Bridge to the secret spots locals show to visiting friends. And with a local on hand to tell you the stories woven into the fabric of the city, your experience will be as authentic as they come. You’ll return to Venice relaxed, refreshed and with tons of new knowledge and appreciation for this fascinating island city.

Excellent tour. Would do it again especially with Cristina as the guide. Unbelievable look at Venice by boat with audio devices. Worth every penny!
Boat tour was a really great way to see a lot of places that you couldn't possibly get to in a week. Kristina made the trip a lot of fun as she had some great great information and was very animated making the trip.
Incredible tour and extraordinary guide. Excellent tour.
Enjoyed this tour. It was relaxing on the boat even though it was hot. Nice to have all the information about everything you are seeing. This is the 3rd tour we did with Walks of Italy and I really like the small group and would recommend it to anyone traveling.

I loved my tours and tour guides. My experience was excellent. We took our Venice in a Day with Mose and Kristina . They were wonderful, helpful and very attentive. I very much appreciated their knowledge and readiness to help and explain everything to us.

I enjoyed both tours and found the audio system to work really well. Mose did a particularly good job on the VIP Access Tour in Venice. I must have asked him six or seven questions and he always had an answer. His knowledge of art history and ability to tell stories were very impressive. The boat tour was also interesting, as the guide shared a good perspective of a person native to the city. If I have a chance to visit other cities in Italy, I will likely contact this company again.

I highly recommend Kristina and Venice by boat!! Kristina provided a wealth of knowledge and we saw more of Venice in less time than walking in the pleasure of a private motor boat! The stop at the Island of San Giorgio was a special treat with the best views of Venice from the top of the bell tower there and away from the crowds of San Marco!
The tour was outstanding. Mose was very knowledgeable, as was Christina, who brought us on the afternoon portion of the tour. Unfortunately the Basilica was closed for a funeral, but you gave us a partial refund, and we still got to visit the Basilica on our own later in the day. We will happily recommend you to anyone who visits Venice.

Our private boat tour of Venice was wonderful! Cristina Pigozzo is an extremely knowledgeable guide and obviously loves the history and city of Venice. Her enthusiasm is contagious. Our amazing boat driver was also a professional. We did deal with your office when setting this tour up. A friend recommended you and I was having problems booking online. A quick phone call solved everything. We will highly recommend you to our friends.

This was an amazing tour of Venice! Kristina was wonderful! She was fun and very knowledgeable. The boat was beautiful and our driver, Claudio, was also great. It was absolutely perfect! I would not change a thing about it and would recommend this tour to anyone who visits Venice. Thank you so much for an amazing experience!

Kristina had great energy and confidence. She packed a lot into our two hours together. We loved this tour!
Jennifer was great. she kept the kids entertained and made the best of the extreme wind. And she had chocolate for Easter!! Great that this runs on Sunday.
I am much appreciated with your utmost professionalism in providing above services. I would like to say I enjoyed the tour very much and looking forward to seek your services in future.
It was great! However, I'd tell people they can bring their own headphones - that would have been much more comfortable (the provided ones didn't really fit and I just stopped using them.)

Our guide was amazing, you could tell she had passion for her job and loves Venice! Highly recommend to anyone!
Christina was excellent. Very professional and patient with our young kids. Hopefully our kids didn't bother the other couple who were in our group.
jennifer was professional and the tour was amazing , I learned so much about venice
Lovely tour, well organised, the number in the boat is just right. A great first approach to a beautiful city.

This is difficult to rate since it was pouring rain for this tour. I believe it would have been fantastic, and I still opened the back doors of the boat to take photos even though it was very wet and somewhat dark outside. Because of rough water we were not able to dock at St. George Island and do the tower climb. The guide was excellent (a male, definitely not Kristina), but visibility was hampered greatly. I asked if the tour could be rescheduled, but that was not possible. We were offered another type of tour on another day, but we declined and went on the scheduled tour anyway. You cannot do anything about the weather.
The tour itself was very entertaining and informative. Barbara was amazing host and a great tour guide. The only thing I would suggest is that the tour could include a stop and get in and out of one of the museums along the Grand Canal so people could really experience the real Venetian lifestyle of getting in and out of a building like locals do. Perhaps add 20 min to the tour and offer that chance. It will make it even more interesting!
Our tour guide was superb and our boat driver (who did not speak English) managed to communicate that he knew where Nebraska was (our home state) and knew about our the Cornhuskers, our favorite college football team.
Wonderful guide and wonderful tour around Venice! Would highly recommend this for an overview of Venice - and beautiful views from the tower! Thank you Walks of Italy! ~Stephanie Yount
Loved our guide, informative and friendly! Thanks
Christina was very knowledgeable of Venice. Her enthusiasm and friendliness were delightful. We were touring on an afternoon it rained. When we were in the tower, we saw and took pictures of a rainbow. I showed her my photos and she was genuinely excited about it. That kind of positive behaviour really impacts how a customer looks at a tour. Also, we liked the variety of sites and the unusual aspect of the tour.

Francisco was a good guide and showed us sights from the water that we were not able to see any other time in our trip.
It was a great tour...tour guide was on time, friendly, accommodating, knowledgeable. This was one of the most relaxing afternoons we spent in Italy. The elevator ride up S. Giorgio Maggiore was a real treat. Highly recommend this tour. Worth every penny.

Again, a fantastic tour, which exceeded our (very high) expectations! The view from the belltower was magnificent and as I have an injury, I was delighted to find an elevator there! The guide, again, gave us an insight into Venetian life and history. He was passionate and fun. We loved this tour and found time on the water exhilarating. Have also recommended to friends travelling to Venice shortly. Thank you again...
Great tour thank you.
Very fun and informative tour. Jennifer was great and knowledgable and congenial. We met another family at dinner (a mom and her two teen sons) and recommended this tour for them.
We've taken a lot of similar tours around the world over the years and this was by far one of the best we have done. This was our third visit to Venice and we saw places we had not previously seen before and learned some new things about daily life in Venice. A great tour!
Great tour and our guide was very good. Our favourite tour so far.
Our tours was wonderful as was our guide, Cristina. Highly recommended!!
