What to expect
Day 1: Florence city and food tour, with VIP Duomo visit
- Morning: take in the sights of Florence
You’ll take the high-speed train from Rome to Florence, arriving at around 9am. Your local guide will meet you and send your luggage to your hotel. Then the adventure begins with a walking tour through the major sites of Florence’s historic center, led by your guide—who’ll unlock the centuries of history beneath your feet.
You’ll finish the walk inside the Galleria dell’Accademia, with skip-the-line tickets to see Michelangelo’s Statue of David.
- Lunchtime: taste your way through Sant’Ambrogio market
Next, it’s Sant’Ambrogio Market, Florence’s oldest neighborhood market. Loved by locals, it’s the heart of Florentine culinary heritage. Your guide will weave you through the bustling stalls where you’ll lunch on local specialties:
Crostini paired with white wine
Cheeses, cured meats, and ribollita (Tuscan soup) paired with red wine
Seasonal fruit
A traditional wine window
Freshly baked cantucci (almond biscotti) and small batch gelato
Afternoon: time to reflect and explore
After lunch, you’ll have free time to explore Florence, a UNESCO World Heritage site brimming with culture, history, and shopping. Your guide will be delighted to share their recommendations to make the most of your time.
- Early evening: have the Duomo all to yourself
End your day on a high with VIP access to the Duomo after it’s closed to the public. Relish every detail and learn the hidden stories and secrets behind this feat of art and architecture. Feast on breathtaking views from the top of the dome, and witness the Key Master turning off the lights and closing the cathedral for the day.
After a magical day, you can join your guide for dinner at a local trattoria or make your own plans—before sinking into sleep at your hotel.
Day 2: the best of Tuscany—Siena, San Gimignano, and Chianti
- Morning: discover Siena by foot
You’ll meet your tour leader and driver and set off to Siena, one of the most beautiful and historic towns in Tuscany. After an introduction from your tour leader, you'll have free time to discover Siena’s landmarks—like the where the world-famous Palio horse race between 10 of the city’s districts takes place and the Siena Cathedral (entry not included).
- Lunchtime: savor the flavors of Chianti
Next, you’ll head off to a family-run vineyard in the Chianti region for a tour of the cellars and wine tasting. All followed by a homemade lunch, prepared with local ingredients, overlooking the rolling hills and vineyards of Chianti. And, of course, paired with wines produced on site.
- Afternoon: take in the views at San Gimignano
Our final stop is San Gimignano, a medieval hilltop town famed for its architecture, including its well-preserved tower houses. Your tour leader will share some tips on how to spend your free time and even share where to taste world-famous gelato. Then, you get to choose what interests you most: shop, relax in one of its charming piazzas, or climb the bell tower for sweeping views of the countryside.
After a day exploring Tuscany, you'll board the private minibus for a comfortable drive back to the Florence train station. From there, you'll board a high-speed train to Rome arriving at approximately 7:30pm.
Please note that itinerary may vary, but will always be an exceptional, authentic experience led by an expert guide.
