Tour description

The Amalfi Coast at its best

Experience Pompeii and the Amalfi Coast in one seamless, relaxed trip with ‘pinch me’ moments at every turn. With an expert guide and private transport, you’ll go beyond ticking off the big sights and spend time discovering the history, scenery, people, and flavors this region’s famous for. Linger longer, enjoy the views, and savor every moment.

What to expect

Day 1: visit Pompeii, have lunch at a winery, and explore Positano

  • Morning: stroll back in time in Pompeii We’ll leave Rome at 7:30am in a private air-conditioned minibus and head south to Pompeii. There, you’ll meet your archaeologist guide for a 2-hour journey through Pompeii’s preserved streets. They’ll share sights and stories that give you a glimpse of life in Pompei—including a theatre, Roman fast-food outlets (yes, really), a bakery, and the sprawling House of the Vetti.

  • Lunch: get a taste of Mount Vesuvius Then it’s off to a winery tucked away on the slopes of Mount Vesuvius. Your hosts will take you on a picturesque tour through the volcanic-soil vineyards and share winemaking traditions passed down for generations. You’ll sit down to a homemade three-course lunch, prepared with local ingredients and paired with three of the winery’s finest wines.

  • Afternoon: explore Positano at Golden Hour We’ll continue down the coast and arrive at Positano when it’s at its most magical—as the crowds thin and the water glows. You’ll have free time to wander the winding streets, shop, or simply soak up the atmosphere—before embarking on a private sunset cruise.

  • Evening: dinner and then on to Sorrento Back on dry land, you’ll have time for more meandering and dinner. Your host will suggest a good local spot for a group dinner for those who’d like to join them. Finally, at 8.30pm, you’ll all leave Positano for your hotel and some rest in Sorrento.

Day 2: the best way to see the Amalfi Coast

  • Morning: visit a traditional lemon grove We’ll leave Sorrento and arrive in Amalfi in the best possible way: by boat. You’ll head to a family-run lemon grove set on a hillside with spectacular views over the Amalfi Coast. Here, you’ll learn about traditional cultivation and taste local treats including limoncello, lemon cake, and lemon water.

  • Lunch: take in Amalfi and Atrani Back in Amalfi, you’ll have free time to have lunch and explore the shops, duomo, take a dip, or have a gelato in the piazza. If you like, we can take a short walk to Atrani, the smallest village in Italy, with its ancient medieval architecture and cascade of houses clinging to the cliff.

  • Afternoon: sample Cetera’s legendary seafood Then we’ll take a boat from Amalfi to Cetara, a laid-back fishing village that’s renowned for its anchovies and tuna, caught using traditional nets. It’s also the home of colatura di alici, an anchovy syrup similar to the ‘garum’ loved by Ancient Romans. Here, you’ll explore the medieval town and take an aperitivo featuring local specialties.

  • Evening: dinner and then on to Sorrento We’ll take the boat to Salerno, then on to Rome in our private van—arriving in the early evening.

Please note that itinerary may vary, but will always be an exceptional, authentic experience led by an expert guide.
