Tour Description

The perfect day on the Amalfi Coast

Most Amalfi Coast tours from Rome stick to the roads, seeing the crystal-clear waters of the coastline from above but hardly glimpsing its cliffside towns at all. This tour is different: On our tour you’ll take in the breathtaking coast by air and water for the most complete experience possible! Touring the Amalfi Coast by sea, you’ll have perfect views of the coastline’s most famous asset - its colorful towns. In Amalfi you’ll experience an authentic limoncello tasting in a pretty orchard with breathtaking views. You’ll also explore the streets of both Amalfi town and Positano where you will sightsee, shop and maybe even splash in the sea if the mood takes you.

Carefully balancing the value of a guided tour with time alone to explore and shop, our Amalfi Coast tours from Rome offer you the perfect day in paradise without the hassle of organizing your own trains, cars and ferry rides.

A guide by your side

Your Amalfi Coast tour from Rome meets early in the morning at Termini train station, where your (fun and fluent!) English-speaking guide will join you for a short journey by high-speed train. After arriving in Salerno, you’ll board a small ferry and relax as you watch the stunning Amalfi coastline stretch out before you, filling your vision and giving you a snapshot of the sights to come.

Boat-hopping and limoncello: An authentic Amalfi experience

Now it’s time for a little touring on-foot. Climbing ashore at Amalfi town, you’ll bypass the crowds and follow your guide uphill to a beautiful cliffside lemon orchard. Overlooking the coast, you’ll enjoy a demonstration and tasting of one of the regions most beloved products; the sweet, tangy liqueur called limoncello. With plenty of time to explore, you will return to the streets of Amalfi for a little strolling, shopping and snacking.

Potter around the picturesque town of Positano

After more time spent cruising the water, the next port of call on this tour will be the picturesque town of Positano!

Following an orientation walk with your guide, you’ll have approximately 2.5 hours of free time to explore the charming fishing village, which is known for being particularly popular among Hollywood’s biggest and brightest. Here you may choose to sample local delicacies at its seafood cafes, shop in its stylish boutiques or simply slip into the sea for a quick splash!

As the evening draws to a close you’ll meet your guide and board the boat once again for a 40-minute scenic cruise back to Salerno, where you’ll then hop on a train for your return to Rome. Arriving back in the city that evening, you’re just in time for dinner!

Please note: In the rare event of rough seas where it is impossible to travel by ferry, we will provide a private bus to take you up and down the coast so you won't miss a thing!

There is a significant amount of travel time, but the tour does a great job of handling the connections, getting you oriented at the two major stops, and then letting you have free time to spend as you desire. Overall, a great introduction to the Amalfi Coast, the ferries were a lovely way to enjoy the visual experience, and the guide was helpful and informative above and beyond.
