Why did I found Walks of Italy?

Like everyone else here at Walks of Italy, I’m passionate about Italy. And I want to share the best this country has to offer—art, food, archaeology, you name it—with anyone who reaches out to us.

I began giving tours in Rome back in 2001. Before too long, I'd received hundreds of rave reviews, including from both Rick Steves and the New York Times. I decided to surround myself with Italy’s other top-notch guides—the ones who were in the top of the field not just in terms of education and expertise, but in enthusiasm and engaging with their clients, too. In 2009, I partnered with fellow travel entrepreneur Stephen Oddo to create and expand the scope of my offerings across the country.

It’s worked. Today, we employ some of the most passionate and fun guides in all of Italy, as Rick Steves himself noted in his 2012, 2013 and 2014 Rome, Italy and Best of Europe guidebooks. We've also appeared in Fodor's Rome guide, AFAR magazine, the Boston Globe, and the Sydney Morning Herald, just to name a few! We assembled a team of local travel experts who work around the clock to ensure that anyone who contacts us is getting the best, most honest advice possible. I continue to hold both our guides and our staff to the same standards of care for our clients that I would provide myself. In particular, I treat anyone who contacts us like a personal friend who happens to be visiting Italy for the first time—as does our entire team.

Of course, we’re also continually creating new tours and experiences, both in favorite cities and sights and in new destinations across Italy. Our goal? Ensuring that our clients are discovering the very best that Italy has to offer.

So wherever you are in your travel planning, our Walks of Italy team would love to help. Call us directly, Facebook us, e-mail us, chat with us—and start off your Italy trip armed with enthusiasm and insider’s knowledge!

Happy travels,

Jason Spiehler
