Tour description

A warm welcome and a cold gelato make for a perfect Rome walking tour.

As beautiful and historic as Rome is, it's also a bit of a challenge when it comes to finding your way around—especially for newcomers. Luckily, on this expertly guided Rome walking tour, you'll be able to get the lay of the land of the Eternal City in no time. Check all of the historic center's top sights—and a few hidden gems—off your list, enjoy your first taste of real Italian gelato, and get insider's tips and tricks that will come in handy throughout the rest of your stay.

Your Rome walking tour starts at the stunning Piazza Navona, where you'll enjoy Bernini’s "Fountain of Four Rivers"—one of the most beautiful sculptures in the city. Your guide will kick off your evening on an intriguing note as they share the story behind the fountain's mysterious symbolism and show you some of the more interesting aspects of the plaza.

Next, it’s onto one of the most impressive sites in Rome: the Pantheon. An awe-inspiring ancient feat of engineering, this building—and its impressive dome—is 1,900 years old and still an architectural marvel. You’ll find it more peaceful than usual thanks to the strategically timed evening visit on your Rome walking tour, so your guide will have space to unlock its incredible secrets—including how Raphael came to be interred here.

Getting hungry? Time for a short break from Rome's art and architecture to enjoy some traditional gelato. Italy's answer to ice cream is full of vibrant flavors sure to wow you.

See all of the historic center's most famous sights in just two and a half hours.

After your gelato, your Rome walking tour continues to the Trevi Fountain. This colossal work is the pride of the city, and your guide will teach you about some of its most storied traditions—be sure to come prepared with some coins to toss in!

Finally, it's time to grab a couple of postcard-perfect pictures at the Spanish Steps. Audrey Hepburn and Gregory Peck fans will recognize this as the spot where they bumped into each other in Roman Holiday. It's the perfect way to finish your introduction to the Eternal City.

Wondering where to find Rome's best pizza? To tip or not to tip? You'll have plenty of space to ask your guide all your burning questions.

In the company of just 15 guests total, your historic Rome walking tour will be relaxed and intimate, and your guide easy to hear and talk to. Our guides are some of the best in the business, hand-picked for their knowledge and enthusiasm. During your tour, they’ll forget about dates and figures, focusing instead on the stories and anecdotes behind the sites you visit. These funny (and often shocking) tales are really what make Rome so special.

Our twilight stroll isn’t just about the sights, though. It’ll also give you everything you need to enjoy a perfect vacation here in Rome. Throughout your tour, you’ll get all of your questions answered, from where to find the best pizza to whether you should tip your cab driver. It’s your chance to mine an insider for knowledge, so be sure to take full advantage!

Wonderful tour! We had separate tours of Colosseum and Vatican so this really rounded out our Rome overview. The tour guide had a real passion for history and archaeology and explained so much to us. Highly recommended!
