Hosted in Foligno, which is in the heart of Umbria and Italy itself. Indeed, throughout history it has traditionally been known as the center of the world.<\/p>\n<p>The Giostra reenacts the competition between knights from each neighborhood of Foligno. The knights attempt to place rings, each one smaller than the last, on the wooden statue called the <em>Quintana<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>A strict historical reconstruction of Baroque Italy, the Quintana dates back to 1613 and the festival has taken place every year since 1946. Located in the historic center of the city, over 26 locations participate in the event, the only event dedicated entirely to the &#8220;first dishes of Italy&#8221;, namely rice, polenta and pasta dishes.<\/p>\n<p>Celebrating \u201cMade in Italy,\u201d visitors can take cooking classes, see chefs at work with food art or tour the Villaggi del Gusto where visitors can taste test over 100 new recipes for dishes particularly influenced by central Italy.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>When: September 24 \u2013 27<\/li>\n<li>Where: Foligno<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Sagra_Musicale_Umbra_Perugia\"><\/span><strong>Sagra Musicale Umbra (Perugia)<\/strong><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n<p>Held every September, the <a href=\"https:\/\/perugiamusicaclassica.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">the Sagra Musicale in Umbria<\/a> ends the region&#8217;s typically music-filled summer with a week of classical and chamber music. Each year the event attracts approximately 900,000 visitors to Perugia, a city that has a long history with chocolate.<\/p>\n<p>Perugia is the home of the Universit\u00e0 dei Sapori (University of Flavors) and of the famous Italian chocolate <em>Baci, <\/em>including their chocolate factory that visitors can tour. Each year all of Italy celebrates the saint\u2019s feast day, October 4, and the festival in Assisi is one not to be missed.\u00a0Two years ago, even the Pope went to Assisi to celebrate the important holiday and his namesake saint!<\/p>\n<p>Gold, blue and red banners \u2013 the colors of Assisi \u2013 are hung all over town and trumpeters in similar colors play Assisi\u2019s anthem as a procession proceeds\u00a0to St. Francis\u2019 tomb. Lewis\u2019 <em>Narnia<\/em>), Torgiano or the slightly bigger Pontassieve hold festivals to welcome their latest batches of new wines.
