Age. Etruscans and Romans helped care for and develop the region\u2019s wines. International varieties such as Pinot Nero and Chardonnay has brought the region huge success with sparkling wine. Instead, local grapes create a truly unique wine scene within Italy.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Turbiana\"><\/span>Turbiana<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The local <a href=\"https:\/\/winefolly.com\/lifestyle\/lugana-wine-region-removal-plan\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">white wine grape which makes Lugana wine so fantastic<\/a>, Turbiana is considered close to Verdicchio, resulting in wines with a rich body and high acidity. Take a bottle home with you for your cellar!<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Chardonnay\"><\/span>Chardonnay<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">One of the most planted grapes in Lombardy, it is used in sparkling wine production throughout the region.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Croatina\"><\/span>Croatina<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">A \u00a0favorite during the Middle Ages, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wine-searcher.com\/grape-587-croatina\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Croatina is a native grape<\/a> that happens to be one of the most ancient in the region. There are two primary ways to do this &#8211; the tank method, used for Prosecco, and the <em>metodo classico<\/em>.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wineenthusiast.com\/culture\/wine\/metodo-classico-italian-sparkling-wine\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><em>metodo classico<\/em><\/a>, the second fermentation occurs in the bottle over a long period of time. It is a tradition that takes patience and care. Bottles are filled with dry wine, and an extra bit of sugar and yeast, they are then left upside down at a 45\u00b0 angle.
